Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch date of its much-awaited series, the Xiaomi 14 series, which is on February 25th, 2024. Ever since the announcement was made by the company, the market has been buzzing with news about the phones that can be launched during the event. Recently, Xiaomi Japan reshared the announcement post of Xiaomi in which it announced the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series. When a user asked whether the Ultra model would be launched or not, Xiaomi Japan responded that the Ultra is also included in the series.

This confirmed that the company will also launch the Ultra model during the event. When users started sharing Xiaomi Japan’s response, in which it stated “Ultra is also included in the series,” Xiaomi Japan again came forth to say something.

Xiaomi Japan wrote on X, “The remark meant that ‘Ultra models are also included in the Xiaomi 14 series in terms of category.’ And further, it wrote, ‘It is currently unknown whether the Ultra will be included in this global version announcement. We do not share any information regarding the ceremony of the event. Sorry for the confusion.'”

So, if we were to make a final verdict, the Xiaomi Japan X post doesn’t confirm the Ultra model in the global market for now, at least. We can expect the company to announce this soon itself, otherwise, the launch event is not so far away either.

A giant asteroid has crashed into the atmosphere over India

A video regarding a giant asteroid that has crashed into the atmosphere over India has started to be shared widely on the internet.

Here’s what we know about it.

“A giant asteroid has crashed into the atmosphere over India”?

The video that is now being shared mentioning that “a giant asteroid has crashed into the atmosphere over India” is not expected to be true as there are no official reports or updates anywhere stating such an occurrence. The video is being shared on the Twitter platform and most of the tweets are being shared with this same statement mentioned above. The video is also being shared with other taglines as well on other social media and messaging platforms, but it should be noted that in anywhere the video it isn’t mentioned where or when the asteroid crashed into the atmosphere.

Recently, the Perseid meteor shower was seen in the sky during the night of Saturday, the 12th of August, and the next day morning on the 13th of August 2023, and an article published by The Hindu mentions a person who was able to click six images of the Perseid meteor shower. A picture captured by him is given for reference below.

Perseid - Captured by Prabhav

The Perseid meteor shower occurs annually during the months between July and August. The meteor shower occurs when the earth passes through the debris trails that originate from the comet named 109P/Swift-Turtle and the reason why it is called Perseid is because, it emerges from the direction of the constellation, Perseus. The meteor shower is clearly visible in the northern hemisphere and, as per a report, the countries of Austria, Turkey, Croatia, and Spain were able to witness this year’s Perseid meteor shower.

In order to capture the image or the video of the Perseid meteor shower, the person who is capturing should make sure that there is no light pollution and note, the person who managed to capture the meteor shower was only able to get the image on 6 photos of the 150 photos captured.

The video that is being shared is not at all similar to those images captured and, again, the authenticity of the video and the news is under question.

Social media platforms are known to perform a vital role in a user’s life not only in terms of connection but also in terms of information about national and international events. But the surge in fake content on online platforms has caused confusion among users about the authenticity of the information. When it comes to government schemes and policies, fake news can be way more dangerous than any other fake news.

Free recharge from the government

The Press Information Bureau(PIB) is one of the nodal agencies of the Government of India which disseminate information related to policies, programs, and initiatives and also flags fake news regarding such policies or programs. Recent news that has been flagged fake by the PIB fact check Twitter account is “free recharge news”. According to this, the Modi government is giving free recharge worth Rs 239 that comes with a validity of 28 days to lure voters.

As soon as it came to the notice of the PIB fact check, it was flagged as fake. If you think that there is any post that is spreading fake news regarding government schemes, policies, or promises, you can simply send your queries to +918799711259 /socialmedia@pib.gov.in.

The general decline in consumption and sharing of news in India

The 12th edition of the report, produced in collaboration with the Asian College of Journalism, said that India registered a small decrease of 3pp (38%) in overall trust in the news compared to last year. You would be shocked to know that users have become more dependent on social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp for news and even prefer them over any other source report says.

So, what if I told you that something that usually costs around ₹35,000 is available for just ₹3,498? Would you not be surprised?

I suppose you, like me, would also be shocked and eager to take advantage of this amazing offer. However, hold on, guys. This is probably a mistake from the seller because, just like you, I tried to purchase this device at the price of ₹3,498. But soon after I added it to my basket and tried to proceed, I received an error stating that the item was out of stock. So, it was a false alarm. Even if you had managed to place an order, there are chances that it may get canceled, as we have seen in the past. Whenever Flipkart or Amazon pursue these sales and overlook such errors, they tend to cancel the orders.

If you really want to buy this smartphone, it is currently available on Amazon at ₹34,999, and with some discounts offer like if you have an ICICI bank card you can avail of a discount of up to ₹2000 reducing the price further to ₹32,999.

Xiaomi mios

The rumor mill has once again started circulating an old rumor about Xiaomi developing a new operating system called MIOS. This information was first reported in November, but there has been no confirmation from Xiaomi regarding this matter.

Let’s dive in and investigate whether the information about Xiaomi developing a new operating system called MIOS is accurate or not. Today, social media was abuzz with screenshots claiming that Xiaomi is working on a new OS. However, as we all know, not every piece of information found on the internet is true. Therefore, we did some fact-checking and came across a quote from renowned tipster Kacper Skrzypek regarding this matter.

According to Kacper Skrzypek, the information about Xiaomi developing a new operating system called MIOS is not true. He confirmed this on his Twitter account with the following statement: “No, it’s NOT true! That screenshot appeared on one of the Chinese sites in November, before MIUI 14 launch. It’s a Photoshopped image. Think logically: if they developed it, why didn’t they abandon MIUI?”.

He even shared a screenshot of a post in which it was written Just kidding, just for fun in Chinese.

After doing some further research, we discovered a blog article on Gizchina from as far back as 2014, indicating that this is not a new rumor but rather an old one.

Even if we consider the possibility of Xiaomi developing a new operating system, why would they invest a huge sum of money in R&D to create one from scratch while they already have MIUI? We searched for any official information about this new OS on their website but found nothing. Based on our research, we believe that this information about Xiaomi developing a new operating system “MIOS” is false.

Are Apple Air Pods Pro available for INR 999? No, they are not. Several media reports state you can buy the Apple Air Pods Pro only for INR 999. Perhaps, buyers are being lured by this. However, as per our investigation, we found out that it is not true. The actual price of the Apple Air Pods is INR 18,999 on Flipkart India. Discount up to INR 1,000 is applicable if you use a Kotak bank card or with EMI options.

Now, here’s the catch. Here’s what most of the media reports have not mentioned. Discount up to INR 18,000 is only applicable if you exchange one of the premium Apple iPhones for the Apple Air Pods Pro. However, phones above Apple iPhone 12 might be the only ones eligible as Apple iPhone 12 has an exchange value of INR 17,500 only.

Here is the proof of the same.

The price of the Apple Air Pods Pro is INR 26,900 on Croma, a trusted platform. Croma is not offering any discount.

Some media houses have also mentioned in their reports that the Apple Air Pods Pro is available for INR 250. However, this information is also not true.

If you only want to purchase the Apple Air Pods Pro, the best price is INR 18,999 only on Flipkart India.

The E-commerce company, Amazon mistakenly posted the 2023 Apple Mac Mini Desktop with an M2 Max chip. A Twitter user identifies the mistake and posts it on the microblogging platform.

Let’s look more into it.

Amazon’s Listing Mistake

Apple recently introduced the Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro chipsets and the device is already here on Amazon.

But Amazon has listed the product with two chip options. As per the listing on Amazon, the Apple 2023 Mac Mini desktop computer can be bought with an Apple M2 Pro chip or an Apple M2 Max chip.

However, it is to be understood that Amazon has made a mistake in listing the product on its website. As mentioned, the Apple 2023 Mac Mini desktop computer can only be bought with an M2 chipset or an M2 Pro chipset.

Other Twitter users were easily able to spot the mistake and started commenting about the mistake Amazon has made. They have also commented saying that getting the Mac Mini desktop computer with an M2 Max chip at a price of $ 1,299 will be a good catch.

Amazon should be correcting the mistake in the listing of the product soon before it can lead to any other issues regarding the purchase of the product.

Here’s More About the Apple 2023 Mac Mini Desktop Computer

The 2023 Apple Mac Mini desktop computer has a dimension of 19.7 x 19.7 x 3.6 cm and weighs 1.8kg. The device comes equipped with two chipset options – the M2 chip and the M2 Pro chip.

The Mac Mini computer desktop is also equipped with Apple’s macOS Ventura to offer seamless performance to its users. It is also paired with Studio Display and comes with Apple’s Magic accessories.

A Smartphone User Manages to Run Android and iOS on his iPhone and Pixel Phones Respectively

A Twitter user has shared a post on the microblogging platform claiming that he managed to run iOS 16 on his Google Pixel 7 Pro smartphone and the latest Android 13 operating system on his iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Let’s look into it.

Fact Check

Recently a Twitter user shared pictures of his Pixel 7 Pro smartphone running on iOS 16 and his iPhone 14 Pro Max running on the latest Android 13. Few users have commented on how each operating system looks on the other phone and many users are wondering how he did it.

But the question is, did he actually interchange the operating systems of both smartphones or not?

The answer to this is NO!

Some of the users have pointed out how an in-display fingerprint sensor appeared on the picture of the iPhone 14 Pro Max smartphone that he has shared. This arose doubt regarding whether the Twitter user is fooling others with a screenshot of the operating systems.

Going through one of his previous posts where he claimed to have interchanged the iOS 16 and Android 13 in Google Pixel 5 and iPhone 13 Pro smartphones, he himself has declared that it is just the screenshots of both the operating systems displayed in the smartphones.

This proves that his claim regarding interchanging the operating systems of the respective smartphones is not true. This also reminds us that you should not believe everything that you see on a social media platform or on the Internet.

Image circulating with iPhone 14 Pro Max assembled in India appears to be fake

Yes, recently there was a buzz on social media after a post that appeared with the information that iPhone 14 Pro Max was assembled in India. Even we covered the news as it was from a good source. However, upon checking the news deeply we found out that this information was untrue as Apple is not manufacturing its pro series in India so far.

Even though Apple assembles iPhone 14 in India, the company doesn’t assemble its pro series in India. Even the Tech Enthusiast Anubhav Yadav who posted on his social media later added a tweet. In that tweet, it was written “Recently, some netizens reported that they bought an iPhone 14 assembled in India, and the words “Assembled in India” were displayed on the box of the iPhone 14., Apple’s official response said that the parts of the iPhone 14 are manufactured in China. Regarding this matter, a reporter from the “Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily” asked the official customer service hotline of Apple 400. A senior technical adviser of Apple said, “From the content of the photos, the parts of the iPhone are manufactured in China and assembled in India.” @ZEALER App”

Will India be the next manufacturing hub for Apple?

Apple has definitely some good prospects for India in the coming days for sure. As some reports suggest that due to tensions between china and USA, India can definitely be a game player.

According to Nikkei, the tech giant is asking its suppliers to shift some AirPods and Beats headphone production to India for the first time. This could be another victory for the national capital’s push for local manufacturing.

According to the report, Apple iPhone assembler Foxconn is planning to manufacture Beats headphones in India and hopes to eventually produce AirPods there as well.

According to the report, Luxshare Precision Industry, a Chinese supplier to Apple, and its subsidiaries plan to assist Apple in manufacturing AirPods in India.

However, Luxshare is currently focusing on its Vietnamese AirPods operations and may be slower than its competitors in beginning meaningful production of Apple products in India, according to the Nikkei newspaper.

Xiaomi has refuted claims that it is leaving India and relocating operations to Pakistan as a result of asset restrictions imposed by the government. Xiaomi referred to the South Asia Index article about the company expanding to Pakistan as “false and baseless.”

Here is what Xiaomi has said:

In response to the South Asia Index tweet, Xiaomi stated that the tweet is completely unjustified and inaccurate. Xiaomi entered India in 2014. Less than a year after beginning their operations in India, they began their Make in India adventure. 99 percent of their telephones and all of their televisions are produced in India. They will take all necessary actions to defend their reputation from misleading and incorrect claims.

The Chinese mobile phone company appealed the FEMA competent authority’s September 29 decision upholding the ED’s asset seizure order on April 29. They filed a new case with the Karnataka high court on Friday. The central investigating agency has mandated asset forfeiture as retribution for allegedly breaching FEMA norms and transmitting money to three organizations outside of India under the guise of royalties.

A Karnataka high court decided to keep the judgment in place while freezing $676 million worth of Xiaomi Corp. assets. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer said that this action “basically stopped” its operations in the significant Indian market.

Xiaomi’s assets are claimed to have been frozen by the Enforcement Directorate in April as a result of claims that unlawful payments to foreign organizations were made under the guise of royalties.

The smartphone manufacturer denied the allegations and filed an appeal with the Karnataka high court, claiming the punishment was “severely disproportionate” to the charges. According to the corporation’s instructions from the court, bank guarantees for the $676 million in frozen assets must be presented first.

Xiaomi argued that submitting such bank guarantees would make it difficult for the business. As they need to fulfill inventory purchases for Diwali, pay employees’ salaries, and continue running their business.
