OPPO Watch X Teased and Launch Date Confirmed in Malaysia: Could be a Rebranded OnePlus Watch 2

OPPO, the leading Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer, via its official Malaysian Twitter/X handle, has teased the upcoming OPPO Watch X smartwatch and this device will be launching this month itself in the respective market. From what it appears, this smartwatch is probably going to be a rebranded version of the soon-to-be-unveiled OnePlus Watch 2.

Here’s more about it.

OPPO Watch X – Launching on 29th February in Malaysia

It was just recently that OPPO Malaysia announced the Watch X device for the market and it was teased with the tagline “Coming Soon”. A day later, the brand has now officially confirmed the launch date for the upcoming smartwatch in the country.

The new update from OPPO Malaysia confirms that the Watch X smartwatch will be debuting in the country on the 29th of February 2024, and it will be made available in two colors – Platinum Black and Mars Brown. To add, it will also run on the Wear OS by Google and is going to be the brand’s very first round dial smartwatch.

In related news, OnePlus had already scheduled the launch of its Watch 2 device three days before the OPPO Watch X Malaysian launch, on the 26th of February 2024 at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. As mentioned, the OnePlus Watch 2 and the OPPO Watch X in appearance look a lot alike with the same watch face design. This points to the possibility that the OPPO Watch X is likely going to be a rebadged OnePlus Watch 2.

The OnePlus Watch 2, is said to feature K-shaped curves on its body and is claimed to offer a battery life of up to 100 hours in the Full Smart Mode. A stainless steel chassis and a sapphire crystal watch face are other revealed specs. It will arrive in two colors – Black Steel and Radiant Steel.

As the launch date for the OPPO device has been confirmed, the brand will most likely tease more about the upcoming smartwatch in the coming few days and this will reveal more about it. Stay tuned.
