Recently, the Green Line Issue faced by smartphone users has kept growing in the past few years. From Motorola, Samsun, Vivo, and OnePlus to Nothing there have been reports of customers facing this rapidly increasing issue on the smartphones of these OEMs. Companies have tried to resolve this issue by either offering free replacements to the affected devices or a lifetime screen warranty.

But these are the after solutions, and many times, a user has faced the same issue twice on their device. Today a OnePlus Nord user has reported facing this issue.

The user has shared the image of the screen which shows a single green line on the display. He has also shared that the device runs on Android 12 OS and has a December 2023 security patch. On the user’s post, OnePlus Support India has replied to visit the nearest service center or book repair through the OnePlus Store app.

OnePlus has already started a lifetime screen warranty service across its affected devices in India. This service applies to any OnePlus smartphone affected by the green line, and it is not limited to selected devices.

Motorola users facing green line issues on their devices is a concern that has been unresolved for a long time now while the complaints regarding the issue have kept on increasing. Today a user named @imaryanaveen reported about facing the green line issue on Motorola G52.

Earlier also Moto G82 & G52 users were the ones affected mostly by this issue. The user has now complained that at night the device was all good but in the morning a green line appeared on his device and then later a bunch of green and pink lines appeared on the screen. Previously users mostly had this complaint after updating their device to the latest version but the users did not install any update on their devices.

Not only this in the comment section the user has also revealed that this is the second time he is facing this issue. Earlier the smartphone was under warranty so the service center repaired it but this time he was refused free repair. The user has shown his frustration to the company by asking for a resolution and also threatened Motorola India to take them to consumer court if the issue remains unresolved.

Below this X post, many users have shared the same complaints of facing this green line issue on their Motorola devices while a few have also shown their concern that now the Motorola smartphones have started showing this green line issue even without any update.

OnePlus smartphone users who were victims of dead motherboard issues were not expecting this from the company. In a recent response given on X OnePlus India wrote “There isn’t sufficient amount of reported cases to prove it is a common situation or there is a direct connection between software updates and the issue”. The company further wrote, “Our team is continuing to work with the small number of users experiencing issues and would ask anyone affected to reach out to us directly at +1800 102 8411”.

This simply means it’s not going to announce any free repair-like thing to resolve the dead motherboard issue as it did when green line issue cases were there. The company in its earlier response said “We know motherboard repairs can be costly, but we’re working hard to make them more affordable” so there was no hint of free repair or replacement even at that time, and the same happened with the final response that it has given on X.

Users have been asked a hefty amount from the service center to get the dead motherboard of their OnePlus smartphone repaired. One of the users Dwipdeshmane wrote on the OnePlus community platform that he was asked Rs 42,000 from the service center for repairing the dead motherboard of his OnePlus 10 Pro 5G smartphone. Another OnePlus 9 Pro user wrote that he was asked for Rs 27000 by the service center for repairing his OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone with a dead motherboard issue. The company must have intelligently gone through the data and then would have come to the conclusion that we see in the form of a recent response. At the same time, it’s important to mention that these issues are not creating a good image of the company even when the company is not convinced with the numbers. As said company can bring the price of the repair down to provide relief up to a certain extent if not fully.

After the green line issue now dead motherboard issue is haunting OnePlus users. We covered it in a separate that mentioned how the company asked users a hefty amount for the repair. Amid this ongoing issue with the OnePlus users few POCO smartphone users also took various platforms to raise the dead motherboard issue with their phone.  Now Tecno Mobile India taking a jibe at both companies has shared a meme on X and wrote “Do bhai, dono tabahi”. Here the company is referring to OnePlus and POCO as two brothers because of the same issue.

Users are sharing similar memes on X that have got hilarious responses. Now coming on a serious note, it’s important to mention here that OnePlus has already taken the issue into consideration and said in its official statement( via 91mobiles)

We’re sorry to hear about some recent cases where the users are experiencing certain problems with their OnePlus 9 and 10 Pro regarding the motherboard of the device. Our customers’ user experience really matters to us. While we’re still investigating the cause, we want to assure you that we’re committed to resolving this for affected users as quickly as possible. We know motherboard repairs can be costly, but we’re working hard to make them more affordable. We ask that any customers that are affected by a similar issue to get in contact with Customer Service so we can help resolve the situation as soon as possible.”

POCO has yet to respond on this issue and should do it soon to keep the trust alive. One of the POCO users wrote this on Reddit

Green Line Issue is not something that is heard first time and over the past few years the complaints regarding this issue have started increasing too. Usually a smartphone user faces this issue after an system upgrade, many smartphone brands offered a free one time screen replacement  for their devices if they are under warranty period but that was not a permanent solution for this problem for the users.

Well tipster @yogeshyaa today shared some images where Motorola G82 and Motorola G52 user was seen complaining about facing the green line issue after updating the devices.

Also since the devices were out of warranty period, the user was denied free screen replacement. Further the tipster also shared screenshots of the users who were facing the same issue on Vivo X80 and Vivo X70 Pro+ smartphones.

Vivo X80 users faced this issue without any reason while Vivo X70 Pro+ user got  this issue after installing the July 2024 update.

Green Line Issue is slowly becoming a headache for smartphone users and its high time that the brands take some actions to avoid this issue or provide a better solution to its users. Lets see whether any relief from this issue will be provided or the issue remains unresolved and the complaints keep on increasing.

OnePlus somehow managed to come out of the green line issue by offering buyers several options, be it free repair, or exchange value on it. Now the company seems to have got into a new problem and that is about the damage to the motherboard. We recently covered this issue that showed the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 10 users who have faced the issue of motherboard damage. The company has yet not come forth to respond on this though a new update has come in this regard. One of the X users Parth Monish Kohli warns OnePlus 9 series (9/9Pro/9R/9RT) or the 10 series (10T/10Pro/10R) users from installing the August update. He says this update can be the reason for the motherboard damage.

Here it’s important to mention that when the users who faced this issue went to the service center, they were asked a hefty amount for the repair that has left them disheartened. One of the users Aryan Gupta has shared a screengrab of an email that was sent to one of the affected users by OnePlus. This email says that the company will repair the phone on a chargeable basis as the smartphone is out of warranty. It further mentioned that as a goodwill gesture, they will offer a 30% repair discount, which does not make sense when the company can be somehow responsible for the issue. As of now, several users have raised their voices on several platforms, but the company is yet to respond to it.
