Yesterday Ferrari unveiled its latest supercar F80 which is the successor to their LeFarrari hypercar that was released 9 years back. The Ferrari F80 comes with a host of advanced technological solutions and represents an extreme development of the internal combustion engine.

Ferrari F80: Features & Pricing

It is equipped with a six-cylinder 3 litre 120 degree V6 F163CF engine that produces a peak power of 900 hp to which the electric front axle (e-4WD) and rear motor (MGU-K) of the hybrid system add another 300cv. It is equipped with the first Ferrari road car engine. It is also the first to feature e-turbos which uses F1-derived tech to reduce lag and enhance throttle response. The maximum engine speed is increased to 9000 rpm, with a dynamic limiter at 9200 rpm. The connecting rods and pistons have also been revised. To raise the maximum motor speed to 30,000 rpm, a carbon fibre magnet sleeve is used.

It sports high coverage ratio ears that reduce noise emission by 10dB. The Ferrari F80 features racing brake pads, state-of-the-art active suspension, and ultra-light 3D-printed metal parts including suspension arms. It comes with a top speed of 350 km/h and a 2.3kWh battery. You can reach from 0 to 100km/h in 2.15 seconds and also arrives with electric turbochargers. It includes an 8-speed dual clutch F1 DCT.

The cabin of the car has an asymmetrical layout while most controls and functions on the new ovoid steering wheel and the slim centre console are physical. There are different modes- hybrid, performance, and qualify that are selectable via a switch on the steering wheel and offer differing levels of power.

As revealed by Ferrari, only 799 models of this supercar will be built. Ferrari F80 is priced at $3.9 million and surprisingly all the 799 models are already booked. The deliveries will start in early 2026.

Charles Leclerc of the Ferrari powered to pole position for the French Grand Prix on Saturday with Red Bull’s F1 championship leader Max Verstappen joining his main title rival on the front row.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez has qualified with third position and British racer Lewis Hamilton completed the second row for Mercedes, Hamilton is a seven time world champion.

This pole is the 7th for Leclerc in 12 races, 16th of the Monegasque’s career, and he certainly had Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz for a thanks as he gave him a strategic aerodynamic tow that made a big difference.

“It was a great lap, I’ve struggled all weekend to put a lap together and I managed to put it,” says Leclerc, who is 38 points ahead of Verstappen in the standings.

Moreover, Leclerc’s time of one minute 30.872 seconds was 0.304 faster than Verstappen’s best, although, Ferrari will have both Red Bulls chasing on Sunday with Sainz unable to lend any assistance.

“I think we were lacking a bit in qualifying, just general grip,” said Verstappen.

Mercedes fought very hard to take the flight to Ferrari and Red Bull but in the end the second row was the closest they could manage at.

German F1 racer Michael Schumacher crashed during a ski trip to Switzerland in 2013 and sustained a bizarre brain injury. He left his Formula 1 career behind in 2013 to privately recuperate after a devasting skiing accident. Since then, he has not appeared in public. However, his son, Mick, has taken his legacy forward.

Mick has turned out to be the sport’s most impressive drivers while keeping the Schumacher name in the spotlight. Haas driver Kevin Magnussen touched on that legacy this week and its potential burden when he said it was “kind of tough” to live as a Schumacher.

“It’s kind of tough because he has this surname. His dad is the biggest Formula 1 driver ever, and some people may think that he is here just because he is a Schumacher – but he really has to what it takes to be here. He has done what is needed (to be in F1).” said Magnussen.

Mick’s father is still alive because of his wife Corinna. She succeeded in keeping him front death while shouldering significant responsibility, according to FIA chief Jean Todt.

Michael Schumacher celebrated his 52nd birthday on January 3, 2022, staying private as he has since his accident. Despite wearing a helmet, the German suffered catastrophic injuries. Schumacher was rushed to hospital and was kept in coma following the dramatic accident while doctors worked to save the racing champion.

Now, he is in Gland, Switzerland where he is continuing rehabilitation.

List of top 10 Formula 1 Racers

Lewis Hamilton

The British racer has broken some records which probably some had thought would never be broken, but Lewis Hamilton has done justice to all records. With his first season with McLaren, he lost to Kimi Raikkonen by a single point. He won his first World Championship in 2008. After 2016, Hamilton has never looked back, he has won every title since then and has become the only driver to record over 100 pole positions. He has a total of 7 World Championships to his name and has won 103games in his career.

Michael Schumacher

When talking about the best F1 drivers, Michael Schumacher’s name immediately pops up. Until the golden time of Hamilton, Schumacher was all over the place in the elite club. He has won seven titles, out of which five are in a row. With his dedication, passion and immense talent he has changed the the vision of F1 racing. The German had the best time of his career with Ferrari. In the early. In the early 2000s, five world titles, 48 wins, and a record book that had Michael’s name in almost every field.

Sebastian Vettel

Almost unbeatable at one time, his form in Formula 1 was something to vouch for. After setting off in 2007, in the first three years itself, he took away nine podiums and five wins. Over the span of next four years, he became the face of F1, he won four consecutive championships and became the youngest World Champion in the process. Vettel is still regarded as the best drivers on the grid, and his list of records is likely to stand for many more seasons.

Alain Prost

His main ability and arsenal was his brainpower, with the speed and to go with that natural precision in his driving that allowed Prost to become France’s first world champion in 1985. He beat Jackie Stewart’s and ended his 27 wins in 1987, he made McLaren won 15 out of 16 races across the season. Prost remained at the top of his game until his retirement, taking his fourth and final title for Williams at 38 years old.

Ayrton Senna

One of motorsport’s most legendary figures, Ayrton Senna remains the benchmark for raw talent and charisma. His commitment to a lap and his desire to push the boundaries to any extent is what makes him away from the crowd. He has won three titles to his name. Senna is a mixture of both speed and ambition, this surely drives the racer ahead from everyone.

Fernando Alonso

The two time World Champion has an image of fearless, aggressive racer, although his reign was not much more of than just the two titles. Even in the end of 2021 season, Alonso was not much lucky, as he only secured a fourth place at the end of the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix. He has still managed to clinch away 32 wins, 22 pole positions and 23 fastest laps with also fans favourite.

Nigel Mansell

Another one of the unluck F1 drivers, with a lot of unwanted issues and matches, he has faced a rough time on the roust. He managed to finish in second place in the championship three times – missing out on the title by two points in 1986. Mansell took five consecutive wins to start the 1992 seasons, going to claim on four more and taking an additional three second-place finishes.

Jackie Stewart

Jackie Stewart was one of the first drivers to prove that racers can, and should, strive for better safety standards. As a triple champion and dominant force in the sport, Stewart had the credibility needed to change the culture around safety in motorsport. Outside the vigilance for safety, he was a product of sheer talent on track and was the man to beat for every opponent of his at one time. The racer has 23 wins and three World Championships to his name.

Niki Lauda

With three seasons in F1 under his belt, Lauda joined Ferrari for the 1974 season and secured two wins and fourth place in the championship for 1974, having often set the pace but suffered misfortune. He suffered a life-threatening crash at the Nurburgring to miss out on the title by one point to James Hunt. He won his last title in 1977 and retired after a gap of two years from the game. Later on, he worked as a manager for Ferrari and Jaguar.

Jim Clark

Clark had gathered the limelight and was only interested in winning. From 1962-65, the Scottish ace was arguably only beaten in the world title when he encountered mechanical issues and at the time of his death in 1968. He is famous for racing in the most dangerous period of motorsport’s history.

When Ferrari uncovered the SF90 Stradale, their most impressive road-going supercar to date, it denoted an adjustment in the brand’s course and their future items. The SF90 Stradale is the Italian marque’s first module crossbreed electric vehicle, with the supercar producing overwhelmingly positive responses from clients and brand followers the same. With the genuine first bunch of vehicles arriving at client homes by the late spring of 2020, it’s unmistakable the Ferrari is making strides towards zap. The inquiry is, how far would they say they will go since incredibly quick EVs are presently a complete field for supercar and hypercar producers?

In a meeting with Autocar UK, Ferrari’s head advertising and business official Enrico Galliera expressed that there are no authoritative designs for an EV yet, and not to expect one for at any rate five additional years. That is in accordance with their patent recording and bits of gossip encompassing a Ferrari EV, which we likewise ran a story on recently. “There are a few contenders entering the market with new innovation that we will take a gander at, however, will that be an issue to Ferrari? I think not, as a result of the particular specialty Ferrari targets,” Galliera told Autocar. He goes on by saying that battery innovation has not grown enough to address the issues of a supercar, not to mention Ferrari. It’s not something he’s a decision out, it exclusively relies upon how far innovation can come to permit them to create something that is as yet 100% Ferrari in DNA.

“When jolted innovation is created, that will permit us to deliver a vehicle that fits with our position. In any case, the key is the innovation: we won’t simply make a Ferrari that is electric for it. In the event that we acquire new innovation, at that point, we have to carry something new to the market. That is the manner by which Ferrari has consistently worked with new innovation. The development of new innovation is 100% in the DNA of Ferrari.” If you will do it, should do it completely directly on the primary attempt, isn’t that so?
