Jio Cinema Collaborating With Warner Bros, HBO and Paramount+

Jio Cinema is collaborating with Warner Bros., HBO, and Paramount+ according to the latest reports.

The latest streaming service Jio Cinema, started by the Reliance company, has made a deal with Warner Bros for its content to be shown in India. This collaboration will strengthen Jio Cinema to compete against Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

The Economic Times reported that, after the deal, the Warner Bros. content as well as its HBO content will become available on Jio Cinema such as Game of Thrones, The Harry Potter series etc.

“HBO Original, Max Original, and Warner Bros. Television series are set to premiere on Jio Cinema on the same day as the U.S,” the companies said.

The HBO content was available on the Disney+ Hotstar app but the partnership between the two streaming services ended on March 31, 2023.

Clement Schwebig said that the agreement was part of the commitment towards the South Asia market, as the company looks forward to strengthening the scale of its regional business. Clement Schwebig is the president of Warner Bros. India, Southeast Asia, and Korea.

This deal is going to bring thousands of hours of streaming content to Jio Cinema, which has already become successful with the IPL 2023 broadcasting for free.

Viacom18 won the digital streaming rights of IPL from 2023 to 2027. Reliance, Paramount Global, and Bodhi Tree are the shareholders of Viacom18.

According to the latest reports, Jio Cinema is about to merge with Voot, which is a streaming service of Viacom18. By the end of IPL 2023, Jio Cinema is expected to become Jio Voot and they are also going to charge the subscribers for the streaming content.
