The Oppo Reno series is making a comeback in global markets with the Reno 12 Series, which was recently launched in the Chinese market. It was previously rumoured that the specifications for the global market would be different. Adding to this rumour, the Reno 12 Pro global variant has been spotted on the Geekbench database with the model number “CPH2629”.

According to the database, the chipset has a total of 8 cores, with 4 cores clocked at 2 GHz and 4 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz, paired with a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. If we compare this with the specifications of the recently released MediaTek Dimensity 7300/7300x chipset, it is a match. Therefore, it is likely that the Oppo Reno 12 Pro will launch with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 and not with MediaTek Dimensity 9200+. This aligns with the previous rumour that it will have the MediaTek Dimensity 7300.

Other key specs revealed include an Android 14-based custom skin and at least 12GB of RAM (11.8GB of RAM shown in Geekbench). A recent Bluetooth SIG listing confirmed that it will have Bluetooth Version 5.4. Additionally, the Pro variant has been sighted on various certification platforms such as TUV, Import & Export, IMDA, TDRA, NBTC, SIRIM, BIS, and SDPPI certification. Oppo is all set to launch the much-awaited smartphone series Reno 12 in China on May 23, 2024. This series won’t only debut in China but also in the global market evident from its listing on certification websites like UAE’s TDRA, Thailand’s NBTC, and Indonesia’s SDPPI. A few days ago Pro version of the series appeared on the NBTC certification website and now the standard version has appeared on Thailand’s NBTC certification website. The Oppo Reno 12 has appeared with the model number CPH2625 and the certification number 838341-24.

Today, MediaTek held the MediaTek Dimensity Developers Conference (MDDC) to announce the Dimensity 9300 Plus chipset. At the same event, the company also confirmed the existence of an all-new chip, the Dimensity 8250. It is speculated that the upcoming Reno 12 series will be the first to feature the said chipset.

The technical details of the Dimensity 8250 have not been confirmed yet. However, it is said to feature MediaTek’s “Star Speed Engine,” which is available in more powerful chipsets like the Dimensity 8300 and Dimensity 9000-series. The Star Speed Engine is tailored to deliver flagship-level gaming performance. It’s engineered to deliver prolonged frame stability and minimise heat generation during intensive gaming sessions, offering an optimised experience for demanding games on flagship devices.

Reports have claimed that the Reno 12 Pro will come equipped with the Dimensity 9200 Plus. However, there has been some confusion about the chip that powers the Reno 12. While some leaks have claimed that it has the Dimensity 8200 chip onboard, others have said it will feature the Dimensity 8300. However, it now appears that the company will be using the latest Dimensity 8250 to power the Reno 12.

The above image shows tipster Digital Chat Sation’s claim that the Reno 12 series will feature a display with micro curvature on all four sides. A couple of days ago, tipster Smart Pikachu claimed that the Reno 12 series would be announced around May.

He asserted that the Honor digital series, presumably the Honor 200 series, will compete with the Reno 12 lineup. In all likelihood, Honor may unveil it in May in China.

The Reno 12 series appears to be equipped with AI-driven features and a periscope telephoto camera for a better photography experience. The topmost model in the series appears to be testing with either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or 8 Gen 3 chipsets. Therefore, it is probable that one of these chipsets will power the device.

According to a recent report, Oppo is developing the Pad 3 tablet, which will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
