Last year, Voot was integrated with Jio Cinema, and all the content that was available on the Voot platform was shifted to Jio Cinema. While Jio Cinema has also bagged the streaming rights of IPL for five years, earlier these streaming rights were with Disney+ Hotstar.

Well interestingly, Reliance Industries has acquired the ownership of Disney+ Hotstar. Earlier reports suggested that Reliance will make Disney+ Hotstar an exclusive streaming platform for the newly merged entity comprising Star India and Viacom 18. While some hinted that the company might run separate platforms for sports and entertainment. It was said that the company could decide to retain Disney+ Hotstar due to its superior technology infrastructure.

Now as per some sources, Reliance may merge Jio Cinema and Disney+ Hotstar, and this combined OTT platform will be called Jio Hotstar. It is said that this merger will make Jio Hotstar the biggest OTT platform in the country with a wide subscription base. Whereas Jio Hotstar is also expected to dominate the Indian streaming space.

JioBharat V3 & JioBharat V4: Availability

These feature phones are priced at Rs.1,099 and arrive with a monthly recharge plan for just Rs.123, offering unlimited voice calls and 14GB of data. These phones will be sold on JioMart, Amazon and leading offline phone retailers.

Both phones differ when it comes to design. V3 has a box shaped design while V4 features curved buttons for s stylish look.

JioBharat V3 and JioBharat V4 devices are backed by a 1000 mAh battery. They arrive with expandable storage of up to 128B. They support over 23 Indian languages so that users can easily operate their devices in their local language.

Reliance Jio, India’s leading telecom service provider, has recently implemented significant changes to its offerings. The company has expanded its entertainment domain services by introducing new products like JioTV OS, JioHome, and Jio TV+.

Jio also offers various prepaid plans catering to entertainment needs, including some with free Netflix subscriptions. These plans have been popular due to the rare inclusion of complimentary Netflix access.

However, Jio has now announced price hikes for these prepaid plans that come with free Netflix subscriptions. The company has also made substantial changes to its mobile tariffs, with price increases ranging between 12-27 percent. Additionally, Jio has restricted access to unlimited 5G services.

This tariff hike comes after a gap of two and a half years for Reliance Jio. The new pricing structure has been effective since July 3, 2024, marking a significant shift in the company’s pricing strategy.

Rs 1,099 plan is now Rs 1,299: The Rs 1,099 Reliance Jio Prepaid plan’s price has been hiked by Rs 200. The new plan is priced at Rs 1,299. This plan will offer Rs 149 monthly free Netflix Mobile subscription and a validity of 84 days. Along with it, you can avail of 2GB mobile data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day.

Rs 1,499 plan is now Rs 1,799: The Rs 1,499 plan has received a hike of Rs 300, thus the new plan amounting to Rs 1,799. With this plan, you will gain a free Netflix Basic subscription and a validity of 84 days. The plan offers 3GB mobile data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day.

Reliance Jio has increased their lowest recharge plans by about 27 percent or Rs 19 and the annual recharge plans by about 20-21 percent or Rs 340. On the other hand, medium-range mobile service plans have undergone tariff hikes of about 19-21 percent. All of these changes are now live on the Jio website and My Jio app.

Reliance Jio has announced an exciting update for viewers. This is about the availability of the JioTV+ app for free on all leading Smart TVs. For those who don’t know, this app was earlier only accessible through the Jio Set Top Box that came bundled with the JioFiber or Jio Air Fiber connection. Now the viewers can access it directly on their Smart TV without the need for a Set Top Box. On top of it, Jio customers can connect two TVs using a single JioFiber connection, and that too without any extra charge.

This offer brings them access to over 800 digital TV channels, across categories such as news, entertainment, sports, music, kids, business, and devotional and 13+ OTT apps such as JioCinema Premium, Disney+ Hoststar, Sony Liv, Zee5, and FanCode for Jio AirFiber and Jio Fiber users.

A few key points are important to mention here that are as follows

• Users can download the JioTV+ via Google Play Store for Android TV devices and similar steps for Apple TV or TVs powered by Amazon’s Fire OS.

Reliance Jio has announced a new prepaid recharge plan that comes with a price tag of Rs 198. With this tag, it has become the most affordable plan by the company for customers that comes with unlimited 5G data access. It comes with 14 days of validity, 2GB of 4G data per day, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS per day. Additionally, it also brings customers subscriptions to JioTV, JioCinema, and JioCloud.

Limited days of validity might be a reason for customers to not choose this and go with the Rs 349 plan. This plan comes with 28 days of validity and brings 2GB of data per day with unlimited calling. Even if someone considers recharging their number twice a month with the Rs 198 plan, it will cost them Rs 396 which is more costly than the monthly plan. Customers can recharge their number with the new plan on the MyJio app or from the prepaid recharge platform.

There is also a Rs 199 plan that comes with 1.5GB data per day for 18 days with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS per day. You also get access to the Jio cinema, JioCinema, JioTV and JioCloud.

Jio Bharat’s Rs.123 recharge plan is termed as “Bharat ka budget wala plan.” It offers unlimited voice calling and 0.5GB/ day data with total data amounting to 14 GB. This plan arrives with a validity of 28 days. Well if a user wants to get the same plan for the annual period they can opt for a Rs.1,234 annual plan for their Jio Bharat device.

Reliance Jio has recently reintroduced its Rs.999 prepaid plan with extended validity and unlimited 5G data. Though earlier this plan offered 3GB/day but since the validity was increased from 84 days to 98 days, the daily data limit is reduced to 2GB/day. After the recent price hike in prepaid and postpaid plans of Jio, Airtel, and Vi (Vodafone Idea). It has just been a few days since this announcement, and now Jio has brought back its Rs.999 prepaid plan with some new benefits. Take a look at the image below.

The first change is the extended validity of the plan which has increased from 84 days to 98 days. Though with this change the company has reduced the daily data. Earlier it offered 3GB data per day which amounted to a total of 256GB data over the entire validity period but now users will get only 2GB data per day, totaling the overall data to 196 GB. It also allows access to unlimited 5G data.

Other than this the plan continues to offer 100 SMS/ day and unlimited voice calling  While subscription for JioCinema, JioTV, and JioCloud is also included in the plan. These features make the plan a well-rounded option for customers seeking both data and voice services.

Update: After the reports of the company increasing the validity of this plan, Reliance Jio has now clarified that Rs.349 prepaid plan does not have any validity change. The previous X post made by the company has created this confusion as the validity period mentioned was 1 month. But as per the clarification, Jio refers to the 28-day cycle for prepaid plans as monthly plans. In their new X post the company has mentioned the existing recharge without any new revisions.

The major and only change in the Rs.349 prepaid plan is that the company has extended the validity of this plan, now lasting 1 month (30 days), an increase from the previous 28 days. The other benefits of the plan are the same, it provides 2GB of data per day while the users can also enjoy Unlimited True 5G data.

As per the company, this change in the validity of the Rs.349 prepaid plan is done due to the feedback received from the users. Well, this increase in the validity is not much of a breather looking at the recent tariff hikes but still, it is a bit of a relief for the users looking for a basic plan that includes Unlimited True 5G. Seems like with the increasing competition in the telecom industry Jio is trying to enhance its plans to attract and retain customers.
