Apple recently rolled out the iOS 18 update for eligible iPhone users. This update came with several new features and improvements. This new update is reported to allow users to start the firmware recovery of iPhone 16 if it enters recovery mode by simply placing it next to another iPhone or iPad to start the firmware recovery. In this case, the other Apple device will download a new iOS firmware and will simply transfer it to the bricked device. This simply means that you will not require a Mac or PC to fix the firmware issue of your iPhone 16 models.

This has been reported by 9To5Mac in a report. A user can use any device running on iOS 18 to restore a bricked device, though iPhone 16 models are the first that can be restored wirelessly. Here it’s important to mention that it’s not sure whether the company will be rolling out this capability to other iPhone models or not. This might require new hardware, which means the previous iPhone models may not get this. The wireless recovery and firmware restore was first introduced for Apple Watch with iOS 15.4 and watchOS 8.5 and then later it was expanded to the Apple TV with iOS 17 and tvOS 17.

Following the Union Budget announcement Apple reduced the prices across the iPhone lineup. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the basic customs duty (BCD) on imported mobile phones and components will be lowered from 20% to 15%.

After this announcement Apple slashed the price from Rs 300  for the made-in-India iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models, Rs 2,300 for iPhone SE and to up to Rs 6,000 for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. This is the first time when Apple has slashed the price of current generation Pro models.

The decision of the price cut has come amid falling sales in mainland China where Apple saw a decline of 2% in the market share in second quarter of this year in comparison to the second quarter of last year. As per the Canalys research analyst Lucas Zhong “Apple is facing a bottleneck in mainland China,”.

Despite these price cuts Apple Pro models remains the expensive as  the import duty is 15% with a 1% surge charge and 18% GST. The upcoming Pro and Pro Max models can come with some price cuts though Canalys says that the company can do it in the form of promotional discounts rather than offering them directly to the customers. Apart from this Android smartphone brands can also leverage this opportunity by bringing premium phones and foldable/flip phones in India with aggressive prices in a price-sensitive market like India.

Yesterday Apple Inc. officially unveiled the much-awaited and highly anticipated iPhone 15 series that includes four smartphones- iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The pre-orders of the devices will start from the coming 15th September. Ahead of the official launch of this latest series Bloomberg reported that the company will be selling “Made-in India” iPhones in South Asian countries and a few other regions.

Well, this was indeed great news for India as this step by Apple will be highlighting the growing production powers of India. Also many assumed that the company might be planning to shift from China-made devices. Recently it was revealed that China has banned iPhone use for its government officials at work sparking many rumors and speculations.

In a recent report by Bloomberg, it was revealed that China has identified security problems with Appe Inc.’s iPhones. As per Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, “China has not issued laws and regulations to ban the purchase of Apple or foreign brands’ phones. But recently we did notice that there have been some security incidents concerning Apple phones..”

Seems like Apple is going to face some serious trouble as China is now emphasizing using locally-made tech products and the company heavily relies on China for revenue growth and manufacturing.

You read it right this hilarious series features iPhone and Pixels as two friends who find themselves in different scenarios which include starry nights to orange sunsets.

One of the videos shows both smartphones gazing at clouds and birds when the iPhone turns toward Pixels. A piano tune follows and iPhone starts comparing itself with Pixel for features that only Pixel has. Features like 30x zoom, and astrophotography mode were mentioned by the iPhone which made the video emotional. Similarly in other videos iPhone has been depicted as a friend always low for having less and the Pixel as a helpful friend.

Tata Group Wistron acquisition

Tata Group, the Indian multinational conglomerate, is in the final stages of acquiring Wistron’s iPhone manufacturing facility in India for over Rs 5,000 crores. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of April. Currently producing iPhone 14 and 12 models, the facility located in Karnataka has eight assembly lines. After the acquisition, Tata Group aims to begin assembling the iPhone 15 later this year, potentially making India a crucial manufacturing hub for Apple products. The move aligns with the Indian government’s push for the country to become a production hub and Apple’s strategy of diversifying production away from China.

While Foxconn and Pegatron have recently expanded their production operations, Wistron is leaving India’s iPhone business, leading industry experts to speculate that Tata Group may acquire Pegatron’s iPhone manufacturing facilities once the Wistron deal is complete. However, the acquisition may lead to job losses, with reports suggesting that approximately 2,000 factory workers, 400 mid-level executives, and 4-5 senior executives may depart. Nevertheless, Tata Group has started organizational changes at the facility to prepare for the acquisition.

This move demonstrates the trend of multinational conglomerates expanding their presence in the tech industry. Tata Group will join the ranks of Apple’s current manufacturing partners. As the tech industry evolves, the acquisition could have significant implications for both Apple and the Indian manufacturing sector.

The American technology company, Apple has already started releasing iPhones without a physical sim card slot in the United States, and as per a recent report, the brand might also start following this trend in France as well.

Read more about it below.

Apple iPhones to be Released in France to Support only eSIM

Apple, as we all know, has started making iPhones that do not have a physical sim card slot and with only support for eSIM in the United States. Currently, Apple offers three ways to set up its users eSIM which include,

  • eSIM Quick Transfer, by which users can wirelessly convert a physical SIM on one phone to an eSIM on another or by moving an existing eSIM between two phones.
  • eSIM Carrier Activation, with which one can set up a new eSIM.
  • Carrier apps or websites, users will be able to scan a QR after providing their account credentials to set up an eSIM on their device.

Three major carriers in the US, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon support both Quick Transfer and Carrier Activation along with some MVNO(mobile virtual network operator) providers and overseas carriers.

Compared to an iPhone supporting physical SIM cards, iPhones supporting eSIMs are considered more secure, making switching between carriers easier and allowing users to add extra lines on their iPhones. Without the SIM card slot, the iPhones will have a little more space within and can also be much more water resistant.

But even with all these benefits, iPhones with only eSIMs have their drawbacks and one of the biggest drawbacks it will have is the issue a user will face while traveling to a region that only supports carriers offering physical SIM cards, forcing its users to rely on a secondary device. But still for its advantages, and due to a possible switch to eSIMs in the future, Apple will in the future make their iPhones without a SIM card slot, and following this trend, the next iPhones to be released in France will also only come with eSIM support and without a physical SIM card slot.

As per the article published on iGeneration, future iPhone 15 and 15 Pro smartphones expected to come out this year in the month of September will not have a sim card slot when released in France. The article further also states that soon the company will extend this change to other countries as well.

Today, while looking for something new to offer our readers, we came across a smartphone that blew our minds. The Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche Design costs a whopping Rs 1,99,999 (Approx. $2428.72) as per the listing on Amazon India, while many companies are trying to launch their new 5G smartphones and be competitive.

If we compare the specs of this smartphone with the latest Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, iPhone 14 Pro Max, or even the OnePlus 11 5G, they all have one thing in common: performance with the latest tech. However, this Huawei phone was launched last year in September.

This smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 8+ gen 4G processor, which makes us think that Huawei is not exploring its cellphone business. This is because, at this price, they are offering a 4G smartphone. Even the camera specs include an OIS camera with a triple rear camera setup of 50MP+48MP+13MP.

In the end, we still don’t know how Huawei calculated the price of this smartphone, but it could still be called the most expensive 4G smartphone.
