In May, Google introduced some new and improved AI features at its Google I/O event. Among these features the company unveiled its most capable image generation image model Imagen 3. This image generation model was said to be soon made available for users around the world.

Imagen 3 has now been officially made available for all Gemini users worldwide, including users who are not Gemini subscribers.

About Imagen 3

Google considers Imagen 3 as its highest-quality text-to-image model capable of generating images with even better detail, richer lighting, and fewer distracting artifacts. It comes with an ability to understand prompts, which helps the models generate a wide range of visual styles and capture small details from loner prompts.

Imagen 3 generates high-quality images in a wide range of formats and styles, from photorealistic landscapes to richly textured oil paintings or whimsical claymation scenes. It understands prompts written in natural, everyday language making it easier to get the output. It then generates visually rich, high-quality images with good lighting and composition and can also render small details and complex textures. It can be used to make stylized birthday cards, presentations, and more.

Imagen 3 is deployed with the latest privacy, security, and safety technologies including the SynthID watermarking tool, which embeds a digital watermark directly into the pixels of the image, making it detectable for identification but imperceptible to the human eye.

When I tried to check this feature out on Gemini by giving a prompt on the website, in less than 2 seconds I got the output in the form of an image based on my prompt.

Google I/0 2024 event brought some of the significant announcements and majorly it was based on Google’s advancement in the field of AI. The company also announced when these new AI-improved features are going to reach all the users and developers. Let’s get to know about it in detail.

AI Overview

AI Overview is a new feature in Google Search that will be reaching all in the US this week and will be rolled out to more countries’ users in the coming days. This is a Gemini-backed feature that lets a user get the answer to more complex, follow-up questions. Google has been testing for a while outside of the lab and has seen an increase in usage and satisfaction from users. Google Gemini not only makes searching for information easy and more intuitive but it also empowers Google products in many ways such as Google Photos.

Google Ask Photos with Gemini

Android users all across the globe have been using Google Photos to save their life memories in Google Photos. This not only keeps your photos safe but also reduces the load on your handset. Now with the Gemini searching for a photo in Google Photo has become easier than ever before. At the event, its usage was demonstrated in which it was asked about the photo of the license plate in Google Photos. Now Gemini backed search of Google Photo intelligently goes through a number of images in the photos and brings out the number plate of the vehicle that has appeared multiple times and results come out with the image of the license plate. Interesting isn’t it?

Apart from this, you can also dive deeper into the memories by asking questions like “When did Lucia learn to swim?”. It will go through a series of images in which Lucia can be seen swimming or anything related to that like a won certificate and then will bring out these photos for you at a place. You can also ask some follow-up questions in that. Google will roll out this exciting feature this summer with some more capabilities.

Gemini 1.5 Pro

Google announced the improved version of Gemini 1.5 Pro to all developers globally. Gemini 1.5 Pro with 1 million context is now directly available for consumers in Gemini Advanced. This can be used across 35 languages. For developers in private preview, Google has expanded the context window to 2 million tokens. The Notebook LM after the integration of the Gemini 1.5 Pro will allow users to summarize, and generate study guides, FAQs, quizzes, and also Audio Overviews. It will also provide advanced features to the Google Calendar and Google spreadsheet.

Gemini 1.5 Flash is a lighter-weight model

This model is designed for tasks where low latency and efficiency are very important. It is for high-frequency and narrow tasks and has the fastest response time. The Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini Flash are currently available globally in over 200 countries.

Project Astra

Google describes it as the universal AI agent that is based on the Gemini model that can respond to the complex and dynamic world and respond accordingly. This agent can process information faster by continuously encoding video frames and combining the audio and video into a timeline in caching for the recall. Google also presented a prototype of this agent showing the recall capability, identifying the objects, and solving the problem in real time.

Imagen 3/Music AI Sandbox/Veo

Google has also introduced its most capable image generation image model Imagen 3. This will be soon available to the developers and enterprise customers in Vertex. The Music AI Sandbox is a suite of professional music AI tools. Google has also announced the competitor of the Sora the Veo. Google's Gemini AI

Google has rebranded its artificial intelligence chatbot Bard as Gemini. Along with this announcement, the company has also announced the paid tier for the users. Google announced Bard almost a year ago to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Earlier the Bard was based on LLM known as PaLM 2 but with the introduction of Gemini, Bard transitioned to Gemini Pro from PaLM 2.

So simply now the LLM core name and service name are the same and that is Gemini. After the announcement of the Bard, ChatGPT’s rival people were using it through its site, though accessing it from the phone was not as good as on a laptop or desktop. Considering this in mind Google launched a Gemini Android App.

As we earlier mentioned Gemini is based on Gemini Pro LLM though Gemini Ultra is more advanced than this. The Ultra model needs to be paid for. Gemini Advanced is the paid version of the chatbot earlier known as Bard. The Gemini Advanced is based on Gemini Ultra 1.0 and can be considered by those who want it to perform more complex and difficult tasks. As the Gemini Advanced is said to be able to handle longer, complex prompts.

Google is eager to make people experience the power of its new service as it is offering two months free for those who want to try Gemini Advanced. It is available in English in over 150 countries and territories. Gemini Advanced is available as part of the new Google One AI Premium Plan for $19.99/month. This monthly fee also gets you the 2TB of storage and all other perks that you get with the 2TB Google One Premium plan.

Google Gemini

Google has announced its most capable and flexible AI model Gemini. It will be available to users globally from Wednesday. It will include Gemini Ultra, its most capable category, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano. Google says it’s Gemini Nano its most efficient model built for on-device tasks.

Google’s latest large language model was first teased by Pichai at the I/O developer conference in June. As per the announcement, Google has not followed the standard approach to create this multimodal model that “involve training separate components for different modalities and then stitching them together”.

It has been designed “to be natively multimodal, pre-trained from the start on different modalities”. Pichai says “you can work on one underlying technology and make it better and it immediately flows across our products.”

Users can experience the capabilities of Gemini Nano starting today as it’s running on Pixel 8 Pro, whereas the Gemini Ultra is coming next year. Enterprise customers and developers will be able to access the Gemini Pro through Google Generative AI Studio or Vertex AI in Google Cloud starting December 13.

OpenAI ChatGPT just recently completed its one-year journey that took the internet by storm as soon as it came. Google also did a comparison to see how better its LLM model Gemini Ultra is than Chat GPT 4 and ran 32 well-established benchmarks. As per Google “With a score of 90.0%, Gemini Ultra is the first model to outperform human experts on MMLU (massive multitask language understanding),

which uses a combination of 57 subjects such as math, physics, history, law, medicine, and ethics for testing both world knowledge and problem-solving abilities”.

Binance.US Begins Scoping Attack on Coinbase and Gemini Competitors

According to the news floating around the internet, it claims that Binance.US, the American branch of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase, has introduced a blockchain staking product that promises significant payouts on staked crypto, aiming to outflank similar products from competing for US-based exchanges. The business stated on Tuesday that its staking service, which allows users to lock up assets to support proof-of-stake (PoS) networks, allows users to earn up to an 18 per cent annual percentage yield (APY) on specific currencies.

Binance.US Begins Scoping Attack on Coinbase and Gemini Competitors

Moreover, Audius (AUDIO), Avalanche (AVAX), BNB Chain, Cosmos (ATOM), Livepeer (LPT), Solana (SOL), and The Graph are among the Binance.US’s PoS blockchains supporters (GRT). According to Binance.US, more coins will be introduced in the near future. The staking of crypto tokens is made easier by large exchanges, which take a cut of the coins’ yield.  The goal, according to Binance.US CEO Brian Shroder, is to outperform staking APYs on platforms like Coinbase and Gemini. Shroder claims that staking Cosmos blockchain’s ATOM token will earn a 12.2 per cent APY on Binance.US, but the Livepeer token, with a smaller market size, might offer up to an 18% dividend on LPT.

As per the sources, we also came to know that the Binance.US, although projections of coming crypto winter, they appear to be in fine shape; Shroder claims the firm does have plenty of dry powder to explore acquisitions in the future. In contrast to the gloomy job news coming out of Coinbase and Gemini, he used the opportunity to point out that his company is hiring.

Furthermore, Shroder also added that they’re adding people from Coinbase and Gemini to their team. Those firms have a lot of talent applying for our open positions, and they are actively interviewing them. Coinbase declared a recruiting freeze last week, stating that it will retract employment offers to applicants who had already accepted positions at the exchange. Meanwhile, Gemini said that 10% of its workforce would be laid off.
