Apple has announced changes to its Business Connect service, now allowing businesses of all sizes and types to use the platform, including those without physical locations. The service lets verified businesses manage their appearance across Apple’s apps, which are used by over a billion people.

David Dorn, Apple’s senior director of Internet Software and Services Product, stated, “We designed Business Connect to enable businesses to present accurate information to Apple users. With today’s updates, we’re extending this capability to more businesses.”

New features in the expanded service include:

  1. Branded Mail: Businesses can display their name and logo in emails sent to customers through Apple’s Mail app. This feature is available for sign-up now, with logo display expected later this year.
  2. Tap to Pay on iPhone Logo Display: Companies can show their logo instead of a category icon when accepting payments via Tap to Pay on iPhone.
  3. Business Caller ID: Planned for next year, this will show a business’s name, logo, and department on incoming call screens.

These additions build on existing features introduced last year, which allowed businesses to customize their place cards in apps like Apple Maps and Wallet with photos, logos, action links, and promotions.

The expansion of Business Connect to include service providers and online-only businesses represents a change in Apple’s approach to business integration within its ecosystem. This move may affect how businesses interact with customers through Apple’s platforms and could influence digital brand management strategies.

As per Apple’s support page currently, two types of entities can use Apple Business Connect

  • Company/Organization: Your company or organization. You directly manage how your brand appears to customers.
  • Third-Party Partner/Agency: A data provider or data manager who works on your behalf on how your brand appears to customers.

Apple, the Cupertino-based tech company, has now updated its iCloud web with some new user friendly features and has brought certain improvements along with it. Apart from general updates, iCloud Calendar, iCloud Drive, iCloud Photos, Notes, and Reminders have received some changes and updates too.

Know more about it in detail below.

Apple’s iCloud Web – Updated

For those of you who don’t know, iCloud is a service offered by Apple to its users which helps them in securely storing their passwords, files, photos, notes, and other such data to its cloud. Yes, similar to Google Drive. The data is kept up to date and will be made available across all their devices. Sharing these resources with friends and family is also really easy with the iCloud service. That being said, let us now look into the updates that Apple has brought to its web version.

Firstly, iCloud web will now be able to automatically match with the users’ device settings, and then, display in a dark or light color scheme accordingly. Users will also receive the option to customize the background. They just need to scroll down to the bottom, select ‘Customize Home Page’, and then choose from the different colors given.

The support for Hijri calendar, along with an updated design has been brought to iCloud Calendar. In iCloud Drive, now users will be able to find files that have been shared with them in the ‘Shared View Tab’. Faster navigation, Date/time/location adjustment, and new tile options are the major updates in iCloud Photos.

On iCloud, users will also now be able to pin notes for easy access at the top of the list. Using control click on Mac/right click, users can adjust their pinned notes. They can also choose whether or not to display them directly in the Notes tile on the home page. Creating new reminder lists is also possible with the new update.

iOS 18.0.1

After Apple introduced its iOS 18 update around the mid-half of last month, many iPhone users have been complaining about a lot of bugs and other issues that they have been facing post-update. Now, the brand is rolling out a new iOS 18.0.1 update, which is expected to fix all the bugs that users are currently facing, along with two security updates.

Here’s more about the latest iOS 18.0.1 update.

Apple’s iOS 18.0.1 Update Now Rolling Out

In a nutshell, this update comprises of bug fixes for the touch screen, camera, messages, and performance related issues. Firstly, on the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models, in certain cases, users would have had to face unresponsiveness in the touch screen. This made it difficult for them to scroll, select on-screen items, and do many other necessary tasks. This touch screen issue will be resolved with this latest update.

Another bug that many iPhone 16 Pro models users have been complaining about is the screen freeze issue while recording macro videos on the ultra wide camera in 4K with HDR turned off. With the iOS 18.0.1 update, this is also said to be fixed.

Now coming to the issues in the Messages app, when users reply to a message carrying a shared Apple Watch face, the app may unexpectedly close on its own. On the performance side, Apple states that due to a memory allocation issue, there were performance related issues in some iPhone models. Both these issues will also be resolved after updating with the iOS 18.0.1 update.

Regarding the security updates, users would have seen the record feature in the Messages app recording a few seconds of audio before the recording indicator appears. This problem has been fixed. The other security issue is a very serious one. VoiceOver had the capability of reading saved passwords. This has been disabled by Apple in the new update.

Apple - iOS 18 Update

The iOS 18 update has been made available to iPhone models – iPhone XS, XR and later. This update (iOS 18.0.1) will also thus be made available to all the models which received the iOS 18 update. For checking the availability of the update or to install it, users can open the Settings app, go to ‘General’, and then select ‘Software Update’.

Just to add, iOS 18.1 with the brand’s Apple Intelligence features is said to be released at the end of this month, on the 28th of October 2024. Check out more about it here.

Apple just launched the iPhone 16 series and buyers have gone crazy behind it. Some of the buyers who have bought iPhone 16 Pro models are experiencing issues with the touchscreen responsiveness which they have reported on several platforms. As per the reports their taps and touch on the display are being ignored which is affecting scrolling, pressing, and even causing missed presses on keys on the keyboard.

The report says that software bugs can be the possible reason behind this issue. If said specifically, iOS’s accidental touch rejection algorithm over sensitivity can be causing the touch unresponsiveness. The unintentional contact with the other part of the screen can also be triggering this. One of the Reddit users wrote that when a user touches the screen next to the camera control button first, the entire display becomes unresponsive until removed.

The ultra-slim bezels of the smartphone can be one of the contributing reasons behind this thus increasing the chance of touching the edge of the display unintentionally. This can happen when a user is holding the phone by wrapping fingers around the phone and without cover. With a protective case on, the case of unresponsive touch may go down. If this is about the bezels, the problem may remain as it is but if it’s because of software bugs Apple can address it in upcoming updates.

Marketing skids are done by every e-commerce brand, or even by some retailers, to attract customers. And as this is the festive season, both online and offline retailers are offering heavy discounts. Flipkart is amongst them, having released a banner claiming the iPhone 13, which costs around Rs 49,990, for just Rs 11. Yes, but it had some stipulation that the sale would be live at 11:11 PM IST on 22nd September 2024. And just like everyone, even I had my hands on the ‘Buy Now’ button.

But for some strange reason, every time I clicked on the Buy Now button, it just kept on shooting error messages. And my purchase didn’t happen. So I wondered if maybe my luck wasn’t that good. So I started digging more into it. Guess what I found: several people had posted on X claiming the same, that the sale didn’t happen. But rather just a few of them have posted that they did get that deal.

And now it is off the shelves from Flipkart, and a banner has been updated with a sold-out message. So what do you all think? Was it just a marketing gimmick, or will some people actually get it? If you are among the lucky ones, you can simply tag us, and we will update this story as well.
