Delhi Police : Flying of drones prohibited ahead of Independence day

On Friday, Delhi Police takes on Twitter to announce that the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms is prohibited in the wake of Independence day celebrations.

They said it is reported that certain criminal, anti-social elements, or terrorists inimical to India may pose a security threat by the use of sub-conventional aerial platforms, & therefore, they are prohibited in the wake of India’s independence day.

Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner of Delhi Police prohibits the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters or para jumping from aircraft, etc. over the jurisdiction of the NCT of Delhi on the occasion of Independence day 2022.

He further said that whosoever will be found doing this shall be punishable under Section 188 of the IPC.

The order will come into force from 22 July 2022 and will remain in force for a period of 26 days up to 16 August 2022(both days inclusive) unless withdrawn earlier.
