MiniLED TV ahead of CES 2021 Unveiled by LG

LG Electronics launched its latest MiniLED TV line-up on Tuesday, ahead of CES 2021.
Given the name LG QNED TV, the liquid crystal display (LCD) TV uses ultra-small LEDs as a backlight. The LEDs used to emit light are tenths larger than those previously seen on LCD TVs, the South Korean electronics manufacturer said.
The smaller LEDs cause more of them to be stacked in a region, thus raising the brightness of the TV, LG said.

It also allows for more segmented local dimming, which improves the contrast ratio, he said.

The 8K, 86-inch LG QNED TV is packed with 30,000 LEDs as a backlight.

The South Korean electronics producer has also used quantum dot and nano cell technology to improve the color fidelity of the new TVs.

LG will display over ten models in the latest line-up which come in varying sizes as well as 8K and 4K resolutions at CES 2021.

The firm said that its OLED TVs will be the highest-tier deal out of all its TVs. Meanwhile, LG QNED TV would be the best-in-class product on its LCD TVs, followed by its Nano cell brand. It is also expected that LG will introduce new OLED TVs at CES 2021.

Earlier this month, Samsung announced that it was also planning to showcase new MiniLED TVs as part of the QLED brand. The South Korean tech giant has also shown off its latest 110-inch MicroLED TV. Samsung is scheduled to launch them at the First Look function on January 6th, ahead of CES 2021.
