On Tuesday, CM Manohar Lal Khattar stated that Haryana Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya has given the green light to the Bill providing 75% reservation in the private sector to job seekers from the state.
The bill had been a key poll promise made by the Jannayak Janta Party, an Indian state-level political party in Haryana, India.
The bill in question is the Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Bill, 2020. It provides a quota for local people in private-sector jobs that offer a salary of less than Rs 50,000 a month. However, The quota will initially only apply for 10 years.
It will be the key to tackling the unemployment issue in the state, while also discouraging the influx of migrants who come into the state looking for low paying daily wage jobs, which has been observed to lead to the development of slums.
The Bill covers private companies, societies, trusts and partnership firms in the state of Haryana. Local candidates will be provided training if qualified people are not available.
